The big story throughout the playoffs so far is how the Kansas City Royals have used their speed to play great defense, steal bases, and manufacture runs.
The Giants apparently tried to slow down the Royals in Game 3 of the World Series in San Francisco by over-watering their infield, making it harder to run in.
Giants grounds crew trying to turn the dirt into mud to slow the Royals. Cain and Dyson still flying home to first in under 4.0 seconds.

Giants grounds crew spent entire October water allotment on the infield; I just saw a sea lion surface to Panik’s right

The grounds crew here cleaning up the over-watered infield between innings. Sloppy track surely aimed at KC base-stealers.

This is far from a new tactic. The New York Mets accused the Atlanta Braves of doing so to slow down Jose Reyes, who slipped three times on the bases. However, there is nothing in the rules that says San Francisco can't to this to create an advantage.
It didn't make much of a difference for the Giants, who lost Game 3 by a final score of 3-2 and trail the series 2-1.
