The San Francisco Giants have been competing for first place in the NL West all season, but are still looking for that missing piece at the trade deadline to help them make the postseason. Here are three trades they could make at the deadline:
Acquire Cameron Maybin from Braves for prospects
San Francisco's biggest need is for outfielder depth, and that's an area they plan to address in a big way at the trade deadline. According to ESPN's Buster Olney, Cameron Maybin is one of the names that have already been discussed by the front office. The Giants have already talked to the Braves about Maybin, who is hitting .289 with eight home runs and 44 RBI's this season. He would give San Francisco another elite defensive presence in the outfield, something the Giants are looking for in hopes of repeating as World Series champs.
Trade several prospects to Oakland A's for Ben Zobrist
Zobrist can play multiple positions in both the outfield and in the infield, making him quite appealing to any team that could use an offensive boost. The Giants have been targeting Zobrist since the offseason, and with Oakland GM Billy Beane's affinity for young, cheap, talented prospects, San Francisco may be able to get a deal done with the A's fairly easily.
Trade several prospects to Milwaukee Brewers for Gerardo Perra
Olney also notes that the Giants have expressed interest in Perra, who is batting .309 with nine home runs and 29 RBI’s this season. However, he's best known for his speed, defense, and ability to get on base and do damage on the basepaths. He seems to be San Francisco's third option behind Maybin and Zobrist, but he is someone they won't have to give up a whole lot for.
