The San Francisco Giants have been competing for first place in the NL West all season, but are still looking for that missing piece at the trade deadline to help them make the postseason. Here are three rumors you need to know:
Giants looking for outfielders
San Francisco's biggest need is for outfielder depth, and that's an area they plan to address in a big way at the trade deadline. According to ESPN's Buster Olney, Gerardo Parra and Cameron Maybin are two of the names that have already been discussed by the front office.
San Francisco has no interest in Chris Johnson
The Atlanta Braves are actively shopping Chris Johnson, according to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal. San Francisco was in talks to acquire Johnson during the MLB Winter Meetings, but Rosenthal says the Giants don't have any interest in him now. Rookie Matt Duffy has had a lot of success at third base for San Francisco this year, making it hard for Johnson to find playing time should they deal for him.
Cameron Maybin a fit for the Giants?
San Francisco does have some interest in another Atlanta Brave, however. According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Giants have already talked to the Braves about outfielder Cameron Maybin. He is hitting .294 with seven home runs and 39 RBI's this season.
