The 2017 NFL Draft is just a few days away, and the San Francisco 49ers are putting the finishing touches on their draft board. While most of the focus has been on what they will do with the No. 2 overall pick in the first round, the Niners have several needs they plan to address with all of their draft picks. Here is Chat Sports' projections for every 49ers pick in the draft:
Round 1, Pick 2 - Solomon Thomas, DE, Stanford
The 49ers are in an interesting spot. Mitchell Trubisky (or any QB) probably isn't truly worth this pick. But it might also be too early for a WR like Mike Williams, and players like Jamal Adams, Jonathan Allen or Reuben Foster don't quite fit the scheme/needs. That leaves Solomon Thomas, who has been getting more buzz a potential No. 2 overall pick. The 49ers would try to turn him into their LEO edge rusher, although I think he'll be better as a Michael Bennett type.
Round 2, Pick 34 - Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State
That's right, Cook falls to round 2. The 49ers have shown interest in him and although it doesn't fill a massive need, it is great value. But, don't be surprised if Joe Mixon ends up being taken before him. The off-the-field stuff (plus injuries), has NFL teams worried.
Round 3, Pick 66 - Ahkello Witherspoon, CB, Colorado
The 49ers are moving to a Seahawks style 4-3 scheme. Witherspoon has the size that fits the Seahawks corner mold perfectly.
