The San Francisco 49ers are benching starting QB Colin Kaepernick in favor of Blaine Gabbert, according to numerous reports.
The #49ers are benching QB Colin Kaepernick, I'm told. He has been informed. Blaine Gabbert is the starter.

Kaepernick has struggled at times this season, and the 49ers have decided to sit the QB they gave a new contract to only a few years ago. Kaepernick was completing just 59 percent of his passes this season, with 6 TDs and 5 INTs. He hadn't thrown a pick in four games, but also hadn't thrown a TD pass in two.
Gabbert was cut by the Jacksonville Jaguars after three seasons. The former Top 10 pick has been bust in the NFL during his limited time, but is getting another chance to start in San Francisco. In his time with the Jaguars, Gabbert completed 52 percent of his passes with 23 TDs and 24 INTs.
The 49ers play the Atlanta Falcons at home this weekend.
