It’s very bad news for the San Francisco 49ers that NT Ian Williams is considered out for the rest of the season due to a serious injury to his left ankle. The injury was sustained in the middle of the first quarter of San Francisco's game against the Seattle Seahawks after Williams was hit with a legal cut block. Medical assistance was immediately given to him by the 49ers official medical staff.
Even if it was been considered a legal play, ILB Patrick Willis announced he wasn't at all pleased with what happened. Whether the NFL will take it seriously or not, some serious changes need to be made, in the view of leading 49ers fansite NinerFans.com.
With Ian Williams out for the year, the 49ers other nose tackle, Glenn Dorsey surely needs to step up. Last night, Dorsey showed that he can fill Williams' shoes as he ended the game with a sack and a total of five tackles. The former free agent will soon have the opportunity to stand out in Vic Fangio's 3-4 scheme.
