The 49ers gave the Giants plenty of chances to pull out a win at home, but Eli Manning's terrible day ensured San Francisco would be leaving with a win.
Turning Point:
Manning's 5th pick (his second of the day to 49ers rookie LB Chris Borland) effectively ended New York's chances in this one midway through the fourth quarter. While a final drive gave them one last shot, manning threw three straight incompletions to end the game.
49ers MVP:
With Patrick Willis done for the year, the 49ers needed a linebacker to step up...and in Chris Borland, they've found their guy. The rookie out of Wisconsin was everywhere, picking up 13 tackles (9 solo), 2 tackles for a loss, three pass deflections, and two interceptions.
Giants MVP:
On a day when their QB was at his worst, Giants WRs Rueben Randle and Odell Beckham Jr. were both solid. The two combined for 205 receiving yards on 13 receptions, giving the Giants a chance to stay in the game despite Manning's struggles.
Stat of the Day:
Manning threw more interceptions to Chris Borland (2) than he did touchdown passes (1). That really says it all.
What's Next?
The 49ers will hit the road for a game against the reeling Washington Redskins, while the Giants will be getting ready for a Sunday Night Football home game against the Dallas Cowboys.
