Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick remains one of the top unsigned free agents in the NFL, and he reportedly hasn't received any interest from any team this offseason.
Many have pointed to Kaepernick's reported asking price of $10 million and the chance to compete for a starting job as the reasons why he's still unsigned, but Shannon Sharpe of FOX Sports says Kaepernick told him he doesn't have an asking price - because no team has asked for it yet.
"We always text, but we very seldom talk. So when the phone started ringing, I knew that something was on his mind that he wanted to share with me. And he said, 'Shannon, I really, really appreciated what you're doing.' I was like, 'I'm just giving my point of view.'
"He says, 'People keep putting out that I'm asking for 10, nine million dollars.' He says, 'Shannon, they don't know what I'm asking for. I have not talked to, my representative has not talked to, [teams].'"
49ers general manager John Lynch said in March that the 49ers haven't closed the door on re-signing Kaepernick, but after adding Brian Hoyer, admitted that it was an unlikely scenario. It's now even more unlikely after they drafted C.J. Beathard.
Kaepernick passed for 2,241 yards with 16 touchdowns and four interceptions while rushing for 468 yards and two more touchdowns in 12 games last season for the 49ers.
