Michael Crabtree left the San Francisco 49ers this offseason, but not because the Oakland Raiders offered the wide receiver more money.
“A lot of people don’t know that the Niners offered me a contract, I just didn’t take it,” Crabtree told the San Francisco Chronicle. “I wanted a fresh start. It was more money too — the Niners offered me more money than anybody did — but business is business and I wanted to come to a team that really wanted and needed me.”
The 49ers suffered a mass exodus of players this offseason and Crabtree decided it was time to leave too. He also offered a not-so-subtle shot at 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick.
The 49ers replaced Crabtree with former Baltimore Ravens WR Torrey Smith.
