The San Francisco 49ers continue to push forward after the team's mutually parted ways with head coach Jim Harbaugh earlier in the week, with plenty of intriguing names both experienced and otherwise popping up as coaching candidates. We'll walk you through the latest in this edition of our 49ers Rumors Roundup.
The Shanahan connection.
The San Francisco 49ers have already been connected to Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan as a potential coaching candidate. Now, Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area is reporting that Kyle's father, former NFL coach Mike Shanahan, could also be in the mix:
49ers general manager Trent Baalke spoke Tuesday with Mike Shanahan, a source told CSNBayArea.com. A two-time Super Bowl-winning coach with the Denver Broncos, Shanahan was 24-40 in four seasons with Washington before getting fired at the end of the 2013 season.
It is not known if Shanahan will have a formal interview for the job. Shanahan’s son, Kyle Shanahan, the offensive coordinator of the Cleveland Browns, is on the 49ers’ list of candidates, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported on Monday.

Quinn's work with the Seahawks "Legion of Boom" over the past two years has caused his stock to skyrocket amongst NFL executives, thus his full interview slate this week as Seattle enjoys a bye in the NFC playoffs. Adam Gase will have a busy Saturday Another young coordinator who is receiving plenty of buzz is 36-year-old Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase. Gase will interview for the 49ers' vacant head coaching position on Saturday, along with having meetings scheduled with two other teams:
