Compared to the noise coming from Oakland, 49ers rumors have been relatively dormant for the first week-and-a-half of the 2014 NFL free agency period.
According to several NFL sources, the San Francisco 49ers' inactivity hasn't been for lack of interest.
According to the Sacramento Bee's Matt Barrows, add recent Atlanta Falcons acquistion Devin Hester to the list of quick wide receiver/kick returners that the San Francisco 49ers at least took a look at --
"The 49ers' desire to at least check out speedy receivers included another name - ex-Bears wideout and returner Devin Hester, who was signed by the Falcons this week. On a conference call with Atlanta-area reporters, Hester said San Francisco, Seattle, Miami and Tampa Bay were on his list of possible destinations.
Along with Hester, the San Francisco 49ers have also "showed interest in receivers Julian Edelman, Emmanuel Sanders, Hakeem Nicks, Golden Tate and Dexter McCluster.
However, limited cap space ($3.8 million) and looming contract negotiations with star quarterback Colin Kaepernick seem to be keeping the San Francisco 49ers from making any sort of financial splash in the current free agent market.
