San Francisco 49ers running back Marcus Lattimore's great week of practice prior to Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams might be the last of his NFL career.
Per Mike Florio of NBC's Pro Football Talk, "Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com reports that Lattimore is deciding whether he wants to continue to try to return from a serious knee injury sustained two years ago at South Carolina."
Head coach Jim Harbaugh didn't reveal too much after the game about Lattimore's status.
“Did not see Marcus,” Harbaugh said. “I’m sure we’ll have an announcement about that.”
After Lattimore experienced soreness in his knee, keeping him out of Friday's practice session following two days of workouts, Lattimore is now left to contemplate over what he wants to do next.
From the 49ers' perspective, the announcement that Harbaugh spoke of can go one of two ways. Either Lattimore will be placed on the season-ending non-football injury list or on the reserve/retired list.
Either way, a full comeback isn't looking likely at this juncture for the former fourth-round pick.
