It's been a turbulent offseason for the San Francisco 49ers, but the regular season is finally here. The 49ers harbor playoff hopes and that starts with a win over Minnesota Vikings in Week One. Here are three reasons why the 49ers will beat the Vikings on Monday night.
Vikings' Injured Offensive Line
Minnesota will be without two starters on its offensive line against the 49ers. Right tackle Phil Loadholt is out for the season and center John Sullivan is out for at least eight games. Those losses will allow the 49ers' defense to have better success stopping the run and getting to QB Teddy Bridgewater.
Home Field Advantage
Don't underestimate the power that playing at home has. The Vikings have to travel and deal with a time change. That seems trivial, but it will have an effect. Playing on Monday night, Levi's Stadium should be loud and ready for football to return. That boost could be enough to give the 49ers the edge over the Vikings.
49ers Still Have Talent
We all know that 49ers lost a lot in the offseason. But are we all forgetting that the 49ers have had at least 10 draft picks in each of the last three drafts? The 49ers stockpiled talent and now is the time for that talent to prove itself. Plus, Colin Kaepernick will have speed weapons he's never had before in RB Reggie Bush and WR Torrey Smith. Everyone wants to write off the 49ers, but they'll surprise people this season. That starts with the Vikings Monday night.
