The San Diego Chargers hold the No. 3 overall pick in the NFL Draft, and there have been plenty of rumors about whom they'll take with that pick. Most of the reports have focused on FSU DB Jalen Ramsey, Ole Miss OT Laremy Tunsil and Oregon DL DeForest Buckner. But in the final days leading up to the draft, Notre Dame OT Ronnie Stanley has emerged as a serious candidate.
The Stanley-Chargers rumors have popped up in the past day, with both Matt Miller of Bleacher Report and Mike Silver of NFL.com reporting it could happen. Below, we've embedded the tweets from both in chronological order.
While it has been generally assumed that Laremy Tunsil is the draft's top tackle, I've talked to several GMs who have Ronnie Stanley higher

There is even some sense that the Chargers are considering Stanley (as well as Tunsil) with the third overall pick

Miller quickly said he'd heard similar things as Silver.
I have also heard this. Talk last night was Stanley goes top 5. https://t.co/ChXaC3itW9

And finally, Miller reported today that he thinks the Chargers will take Stanley.
I feel very good about Ronnie Stanley to San Diego.

The Chargers taking Stanley over Tunsil would be a major surprise, as nearly every mock draft so far had pegged Tunsil as the first OT off the board. The Chargers could move down and still potentially land Stanley, but the trade talks have died down in recent days regarding the No. 3 overall pick. And of course, there's the chance this all just smoke leading up to the start of the draft Thursday night.
