The Texas Longhorns are searching for a new athletic director with the "resignation" of Steve Patterson." The search for a new AD is already underway, put the answer is already right in front us.
Matthew McConoghey for Texas AD
— PFTCommenter (@PFTCommenter) September 15, 2015
That's PFTCommenter, the single greatest sports writing mind alive today. It's a brilliant idea, although PFTCommenter didn't go into detail why. Well, that's what we're here for. Here are 5 reasons why Texas must hire Matthew McConaughey as its new AD.
He Loves Texas
McConaughey is a HUGE Texas fan. He still lives in Austin and is an alumnus of the school. He has a strong relationship with Mack Brown and appears to get along with Charlie Strong (see below). His love of the school (and the school's reciprocation) has been well documented.
He Can Give Inspiring Speeches
If Texas hires McConaughey, he can give more inspiring speeches to Charlie Strong's squad. And really, who doesn't want to see more videos like these?
He Knows How To Rally A Football Team
McConaughey has already proved he can rally a football team. Just look at what he did with Marshall. If McConaughey can help turn Marshall around, surely he can help get Texas back its winning ways.
He's Not Just A Football Guy
McConaughey didn't just help fix Marshall, he was also involved in one of the greatest turnarounds in baseball history.
That's right, McConaughey was a member of that incredible Angels team. Texas is a football-first athletic program, but having someone with McConaughey's sports background can't hurt.
He Can Use His Detective Skills To Figure Out What Went Wrong
The potential issues that Steve Patterson caused during his time Texas are numerous. It will take quite the investigative mind to figure out what happened and how to fix things. Luckily for Texas, McConaughey happens to be one of the best detectives in the world. If McConaughey can figure out the mystery of the Yellow King, he can figure out how to fix Texas.
This is a no-brainer for Texas. Matthew McConaughey has to be the school's next AD.
