It’s not much of a surprise, but now it’s official.
The league announced today that San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama has won Rookie of the Year, beating out Charlotte Hornets forward Brandon Miller and Oklahoma City Thunder center Chet Holmgren for the honor.
Wembanyama was a surefire No. 1 overall pick to the Spurs, and he dazzled in his first season in the NBA. He averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game for the Spurs this year.
In two games against the Portland Trail Blazers this year, Wembanyama averaged 26.
