The Phoenix Suns cleared some salary cap space on Thursday for a run at marquee free agents on the current market, dealing Marcus Morris, Danny Granger, and Reggie Bullock to the Detroit Pistons for future picks, per Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.
According to Wojnarowski, the Suns facilitated this trade as a traditional salary dump of $20 million as they intensify their pitch to Portland big man LaMarcus Aldridge:
The Pistons will send the Suns a 2020 second-round draft pick. So yes, the Suns are clearing salary cap space.

The Suns have cleared $20M in salary cap space, allowing them to potentially sign LaMarcus Aldridge without the need for a sign-and-trade.

While Danny Granger and Reggie Bullock have been long speculated to be trade chips for the Suns this offseason, dealing power forward Marcus Morris and breaking up the Morris Twins duo (with his brother Markieff) may be the biggest indication of Phoenix's desire to overhaul their frontcourt with another key free-agent acquisition to go along with the recently-signed Tyson Chandler.
