The NBA offseason is here, and it's still a bit unclear what the Phoenix Suns plan on doing. They have a young team, but enough cap space that they could add a max player. With that in mind, here are the three biggest Suns storylines to watch for during the 2016 NBA offseason.
3. Do They Re-Sign Anyone?
The Suns have four free agents: Ronnie Prince, Chase Budinger, Jon Leuer and Mirza Teletovic. All four are at least 27 years old and unrestricted free agents. The team added Marquese Chriss and Dragan Bender, which might eliminate the need for one of the three forwards mentioned above. Leuer and Teletovic are the two best, but could find a more important role on a contender. There's a serious question if the Suns will bring anyone back.
2. Do They Trade Eric Bledsoe (Or Brandon Knight)?
The Suns reportedly are open to dealing Bledsoe or Knight. Will they pull the trigger and if so, what do they get back? Do they target a player(s) or go for draft picks. Whether or not the Suns actually trade one of the two will be a critical part in determining what they do this offseason.
1. Win Now, Or Later?
The Suns have cap space. They could make a run at a small forward like Harrison Barnes in an effort to try to make the playoffs next season. With experienced players like Tyson Chandler, Knight, Bledsoe, P.J. Tucker and their free agents, the Suns could try to go all-in and make a push for the postseason. Or, the Suns could sit out free agency for the most part and let young players like Devin Booker, Alex Len, T.J. Warren, Chriss and Bender develop. Half of the Suns' roster is ready to win now and the other half needs more developing. The Suns might be leaning toward letting the young players develop before trying to make a free agent splash.
