The Philadelphia Phillies have “quietly continued having dialogue" with the Dodgers regarding Cole Hamels, according to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman.
The Dodgers are also giving serious consideration to Johnny Cueto and “appear determined” to land a top caliber starter to pair with Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke.
Philadelphia is trying to get top prospects in return for Hamels, but most executives think the Dodgers will hold onto top prospects Corey Seager and Julio Urias. However, the Dodgers have a deep farm system, and the Phillies’ asking price has reportedly become “more reasonable” recently.
Hamels would provide insurance if Greinke opts out of his contract to sign elsewhere next season.
