In this Phillies rumors and news update, the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox are rumored to be interested in a potential trade for Phillies ace Cole Hamels.
According to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, the Boston Red Sox have already sent scouts out to take a look at the 30-year-old lefty:
The Red Sox were one of a few teams to watch Cole Hamels earlier this week. Hamels has four years remaining on his contract.

In addition, Jon Morosi of FOX Sports (via CBS Sports) is indicating that the New York Yankees could also use Hamels in the wake of Masahiro Tanaka's injury as they attempt to claw their way to the top of a weakened AL East.
In Hamels, either team would pick up an impact arm under years of team control - something that could drive Hamels' price up exponentially, especially if David Price lands early in the trade deadline chaos.
Expect the Phillies to continue to assess their options with Hamels and don't be surprised if they hold onto him at least through the July 31st non-waiver trade deadline.
