Phillies News: Pitching provides optimism on long road trip

In Phillies news today, the Philadelphia Philies' pitching should give fans reason enough to be optimistic with the team back in the friendly confines of Citizens Bank Park.

According to Matt Lombardo of NJ.com, "this is the Phillies team that manager Ryne Sandberg envisioned, built on the starters' arms, and after a 6-4 road trip that lifted them above .500 and provided encouraging signs, the Phillies begin a two-game series against the Mets on Tuesday."

Sandberg said that a road trip that started out with two tough losses "ended up being a good trip."

Second baseman Chase Utley believes that the whole Philadelphia Phillies team is starting to get in the proverbial swing of things:

"Overall, I think we're playing pretty good baseball. We can definitely get better in all areas," second baseman Chase Utley said, via Lombardo's article. "But I think this was a decent read trip. Losing the first two and then coming back and winning the majority of the rest of them, it's pretty good."
