PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia 76ers have brought in longtime NBA executive Jerry Colangelo as chairman of basketball operations.
Sixers officials said Monday that Colangelo, the chairman of USA Basketball, would also serve as an adviser to team ownership.
It's not immediately clear how Colangelo's role will affect Sam Hinkie, the team's general manager and president of basketball operations. Hinkie said in a statement that he feels fortunate to have Colangelo as part of the organization.
Colangelo had a long career with the Phoenix Suns, serving as coach, CEO and general manager, among other roles.
