The Penn State Nittany Lions wrapped up spring practice with their spring game on Saturday, allowing head coach James Franklin to really ramp up PSU's efforts on the recruiting trail. Here are all the latest news and rumors surrounding Penn State football recruiting:
5-star DE to announce decision next week
Joshua Kaindoh (Bradenton, FL), the top-rated defensive end in the country, is expected to announce his college decision next week, according to 247 sports.
Penn State is one of the favorites to land him, along with Maryland and Notre Dame. He plans to enroll early at whichever school he chooses.
Penn State wows 4-star CB during visit
Four-star cornerback Deon Jones (Washington, DC) took a visit to Penn State over the weekend, and he told 247sports that he loved his time in Happy Valley.
"It was great," Jones said. "When I arrived the whole coaching staff was waiting for me at the door. That shows how family-oriented they are. They definitely showed me love, showed me how much they really want me. I have to get back up there again, too.”
Jones said Penn State is high on his list because of his relationship with Franklin, and the ability to play right away.
“Coach Franklin is my guy. I love coach Franklin,” he said. “Sat down with him, had lunch with him. He talked to me, not just about football, but also academics and life things. We talked about academics and football. They’re short at depth so if I went up there I would get a chance to play early. Me being an early grad, I’m looking to get in there and play right away.”
The 6'1", 180-pounder is ranked as the No. 9 cornerback and No. 82 overall prospect in the country.
