Fall recruiting season is ramping up right now for all college football teams, making this a crucial time for head coaches and their staffs to make plays for blue-chippers around the nation. The Penn State Nittany Lions are no exception. With that being said, here's our weekend recruiting preview for the program.
Nittany Lions offer elite 2018 QB
Gibsonia (Pa.) Pine-Richland 2018 quarterback Phil Jurkovec has been offered by Penn State, per his coach Eric Kasperowicz.
Head coach James Franklin extended the offer on Friday following a school visit by assistant coaches Ricky Rahne and Terry Smith. Jurkovec is the first QB offer in the 2018 class for Penn State. He holds one other offer after Pittsburgh extended on Thursday.
PSU impresses 2017 DE
Four-star 2017 Fredricksburg (VA) Chancellor defensive end Yetur Matos visited Happy Valley over the past weekend and he came away impressed with what he saw.
“I had a great time at Penn State,” he said. “I got up there to the parking lot at about 7:30 and they were there waiting for me with the golf cart. They took me around and showed me downtown and all of the coaches were waiting for me to have breakfast. We talked for a bit, then after that we went on a tour around the school and they even showed us the basketball and hockey facilities. They really showed us everything about that campus."
Matos currently holds 13 offers, including ones from the likes of Virginia, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.
