According to a PennLive.com report, Penn State Athletic Director Dave Joyner will step down shortly - possibly by the end of this week.
Joyner took over for former AD Tim Curley when fallout from the Sandusky scandal cost Curley his job. A former Penn State football player, wrestler and Trustee, Joyner was responsible for the high-profile hirings of football coaches Bill O'Brien and James Franklin.
Despite those successful hires, Joyner was not well-liked among Penn State coaches. The expedited firing of fencing coach Emik Kaidanov (responsible for more NCAA championships than any other coach in Penn State history) rubbed many the wrong way, and a harsh, distant demeanor certainly didn't help.
PennLive reports that Northwestern AD Jim Phillips has already been targeted as a possible successor, but the search (led by newly-appointed university president Eric Barron) is just getting underway.
