Despite Michigan and Ohio State being the two highest-ranked teams from the Big Ten, the Penn State Nittany Lions are set to square off against the Wisconsin Badgers in the Big Ten Championship Game. Wisconsin is currently listed as the betting favorite, but we know better. Here are three reasons why Penn State will win the game:
3) PSU is the more proven team
Penn State has shown they know what it takes to win these kind of big games, proven by their giant win over Ohio State. For Wisconsin, they haven't demonstrated that same kind of ability. They lost to both Michigan and Ohio State, and their biggest win came over a Nebraska team that is no longer ranked. That kind of experience makes a difference in games of this magnitude.
2) Wisconsin's one-dimensional offense
The reason why the Badgers haven't been able to win those big games is largely because they don't have any real threat of a passing attack, making them much easier to defend. Wisconsin ranks just 106th in the country in passing yards (179.6 per game) and have only thrown 13 touchdown passes on the entire season. Expect Penn State to stack the box defensively and really keep the Badgers in check.
1) Penn State's red-hot offense
The biggest reason for Penn State's turnaround this season has been the spectacular play of their offense. Following that win over Ohio State, the unit has taken off. They have scored at least 39 points in each of their last five games, and are averaging 46.4 points per game over that stretch - which would lead the country if they had posted that number for the entire season. Led by running back Saquon Barkley and quarterback Trace McSorley, the Nittany Lions will be able to put plenty of points on the board.
