The Toronto Blue Jays and Oakland A's snuck a deal in just minutes before Friday's MLB Trade Deadline, with Blue Jays LHP Felix Doubront being shipped off to the A's for cash considerations:
#Athletics acquire LHP Felix Doubront from Toronto for cash considerations
— Oakland Athletics (@Athletics) July 31, 2015
Doubront is making just over $260,000 this year and has two years left of arbitration in the bank, which makes this a quintessential buy low/aim high move for Athletics GM Billy Beane.
As for the Blue Jays, Doubront was likely seen as a expendable rotation piece with the team's acquisition of David Price and other moves potentially coming before the deadline and/or via waivers.
Doubront, 27, is 1-1 this year with a 4.76 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 13/5 K/BB ratio in 22.2 innings pitched (5 appearances, 4 starts)
