The Oakland Athletics are reportedly on the verge of trading starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija, with the Chicago White Sox the "likely landing spot", per Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.
Regardless of whether or not a deal is close to being done, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that the A's are likely to wait until at least Tuesday to announce the trade:

According to Jon Heyman, "the White Sox have several young middle infielders who could make sense for the A;s, and Jeff Passan of Yahoo suggested that (shortstop) Marcus Semien could be involved. Chicago's top young middle infielder is Tim Anderson but it was expected the White Sox wouldn't surrender him for a rental player."
Samardzija has just one year of club control on his contract. In contrast, 24-year-old Marcus Semien can be kept under contract until 2020, with arbitration eligibility starting in 2018.
Semien hit .234/.300/.372 in 255 plate appearances last season. He would likely project to be the team's starting shortstop on Opening Day in 2015.
