Spring practice is rapidly approaching for schools around the country and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish start their spring practice in less than a month. While that has the attention of the coaching staff, recruiting is a never-ending process. Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly and his coaching staff are already hard at work putting together the pieces of the 2017 recruiting class.
We're here to detail the three most interesting stories on the wire right now with our Notre Dame Pre-Spring Practice Recruiting Rumors And News Roundup For Feb. 19th.
Demetris Robertson Update
National Signing Day has come and gone, but there's still a high-profile recruit that Notre Dame is chasing. Demetris Robertson is the No. 1 WR in the class of 2016 and a five-star recruit. 247Sports reported earlier this week that Robertson likely wouldn't make a decision until Mid-March, as he'll retake the SAT again in an attempt to get into Stanford.
Tom Loy, of Irish247, feels confident that Robertson will end up at either Stanford or Notre Dame. The Irish are the current favorites.
Four-Star DE Decommits
The Fighting Irish have lost one recruit from the class of 2016, for now. Four-star DE Robert Beal, the No. 39 overall player, decommitted from the Irish Thursday night. He's re-opened his recruiting process and will visit Florida State for their junior day this weekend. On a forum post on 247Sports, Loy reports one of the big issues for Beal is that his sister might not be able to get into Notre Dame. Three-Star LB Coming To Spring Game
Notre Dame recently offered three-star LB Malik Robinson, and he's now set to visit Notre Dame for their spring game. Robinson spoke with 247Sports about what the offer from Irish meant for him.
"It means a lot," Robinson said. "It’s a big school. It’s a great school as far as football and athletics. It’s surprising. It came out of nowhere. It’s a blessing."
Robinson said North Carolina is currently the front-runner, although he wants an offer from Georgia badly. If he gets that, the Bulldogs might become his new No. 1.
