Five-star Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy defensive end Joshua Kaindoh still has plenty of visits this spring and summer before he starts to really chisel down his college wishlist, but it appears the Notre Dame Fighting Irish could already have the early edge for his signature.
“Notre Dame, I’m very high on Notre Dame actually,” Kaindoh said Monday, via Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports. “The mixture of academics and athletics.”
While that alone doesn't denote Notre Dame as a prohibitive favorite, it's important to add that Notre Dame was one of two schools Kaindoh was buzzing about once his recruitment really caught fire last summer. He told 247Sports at that time that Notre Dame and Stanford were the two schools that he really wanted offers from. Currently ranked as the #1 weak-side defensive end and #18 overall recruit in the Class of 2017 by 247Sports, Kaindoh keeps in regular contact with Notre Dame assistant coach Autry Denson.
“He thinks with what I want in a school, Notre Dame is exactly what I’m looking for," Kaindoh said, via Wiltfong. An aspiring doctor, Kaindoh is already looking into academic programs in South Bend.
Kaindoh is also considering top programs such as Ohio State, Michigan and Michigan State, but there's a solid chance that a visit to South Bend "probably this spring" could be a clincher -- especially considering that Kaindoh is looking to enroll early at the school of his choice.
