Notre Dame finally scored their first touchdown of the day, capping a four-minute, ten-play drive with a 1-yard Cam McDaniel touchdown run. TJ Jones deserved some credit for the score - his back-to-back first down catches on the two plays leading up to the touchdown set the stage for McDaniel's touchdown, which tied the contest at 10.
Unfortunately, the defense was unable to make the most of the momentum established by McDaniels' score. Purdue QB Rob Henry picked apart the Irish secondary on the ensuing series, eventually finding B.J. Knauf for an 18-yard touchdown strike that put the Boilermakers up 17-10.
The rest of the quarter looked like it was set to feature the same anemic offense that dulled the first half, but the Irish finally put together another solid drive late on. With the quarter winding down, they drove deep into Purdue territory, and they'll start the fourth with a first-and-goal.
