An ex-Notre Dame Fighting Irish player fullback Asaph Schwapp passed away last Wednesday at the young age of 26. Schwapp was said to have fought a battle against the non Hodgkin lymphoma.
Schwapp is a native from Hartford, Connecticut and was even 2005’s Gatorade Player of the Year. He was even able to play a total of 39 games for the team from years 2005 to 2008.
He used to be a blocker standing at six feet in height and weighed about 257 pounds. The former Notre Dame Fighting Irish star topped off his college career which included 44 carries for a total of 98 yards. His track record also included eight receptions for a total of 62 yards.
Schwapp also signed up with the team of the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent way back in 2009. However, he was cut right before the regular season started. He then joined the United Football League in 2010 as part of the Hartford Colonials team.
When he had his anterior cruciate ligament torn, he decided to leave football. He also worked later on for Merrill Lynch.
Rest in Peace...
