With NFL free agency winding down, the rumors and news on the NFL Draft are starting to pick up. The rumors around the draft aren't limited to just the prospects who could be selected, but also current players who could be moved on draft day. The draft is three weeks away, and there's plenty rumors, news and speculation floating around. Check out the latest and greatest of those draft rumors below.
Shawn Oakman Arrested
Former Baylor DE Shawn Oakman just had his draft stock take a massive hit with his arrest for sexual assault Wednesday. Waco police arrested Oakman after a woman Oakman met at a bar accused him of raping her. The Baylor student says that Oakman "forcibly removed" her clothes and "forced" her onto the bed. Oakman told police that he had consensual sex with the woman. Oakman was expected to be a Day 3 draft pick, but the sexual assault charges will likely prevent him from being drafted at all and might end his NFL career before it begins.
Browns Prefer Jared Goff?
The Browns have been heavily linked to North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz, but there is at least one reporter who thinks they'll actually take Cal's Jared Goff at No. 2 overall. CBS' Jason La Canfora says that Goff has "many champions within the Browns' organization" and that Goff will be the pick if the Browns don't trade down. La Canfora believes that offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton prefers Goff and that Hamilton wanting Goff could help the Browns pick the Cal product instead of Wentz.
Eagles Love Elliott?
Sticking with La Canfora, he reports that the Philadelphia Eagles are "in love" with Ohio State RB Ezekiel Elliott. If both Goff and Wentz are off the board when the Eagles pick at No. 8 overall, La Canfora expects Elliott to be the pick. The Eagles traded away DeMarco Murray this offseason and are in the market for a feature back. La Canfora said he doesn't expect Elliott to get past the Miami Dolphins at No. 12 overall.
Bears Out On Muhammad Wilkerson?
The Jets' talented defensive lineman has been the subject of plenty of trade rumors, with the Chicago Bears one of the teams linked to him. However, Yahoo! Sports reports the Bears are out on Wilkerson because the Jets are asking for too much. The Jets want a first rounder for Wilkerson and the Bears aren't willing to give up their No. 11 overall pick. It's a deep draft for defensive linemen, and that's a factor in the Bears' decision to not give that pick up. Wilkerson would also need a massive new contract from his new team, which limits the potential trade partners. Don't be surprised if the Jets have to lower their asking price for Wilkerson.
