The MLB trade deadline on July 31st is rapidly approaching, and the trade rumors around the New York Yankees are starting to heat up. The Yankees are 42-43, but only a few games back of a Wild Card berth. That could make the Yankees sellers or buyers as the deadline gets closer. With that in mind, here all the latest Yankees trade rumors below.
Will New York Deal Andrew Miller?
If the Yankees are sellers at the deadline, they could look to move lefty reliever Andrew Miller. The Cubs have Miller at the top of their list, reports Jon Heyman. However, that doesn't mean the Yankees will move him. In fact, Heyman reports the team likely won't.
The Yankees are willing to talk about anything, but we’ll mostly take the word of one club-connected official who put the odds of a Miller deal at "less than one percent." The guy is just fantastic, maybe too fantastic to trade.
However, there is another reliever the Yankees could move.
Yankees To Deal Chapman?
Heyman reports the Yankees could move Chapman by the deadline, although there's a catch.
Two rival execs predicted the Yankees would trade at least one-third of No Runs DMC. And since rival execs are embarrassed to even ask about Dellin Betances, and we’ve already said Miller is probably staying put, that leaves Chapman.
The Yankees would get more than they gave up for Chapman, then they might even re-sign him in the winter, making them look really opportunistic.
Pulling a move like that off would be very impressive. With the Yankees struggling to even get to the No Runs DMC bullpen, it makes sense to move one of them.
White Sox Called About Gary Sanchez?
The Chicago White Sox reached out to the Yankees about catching prospect Gary Sanchez, but the New York Post reports talks didn't get very far.
The White Sox inquired on Wednesday about Yankees catching prospect Gary Sanchez. The talks never got serious when, a source in the know said, the Yankees’ asking price was "far too high."
Chicago recently placed Alex Avial on the disabled list, and could use a catcher. The 23-year-old Sanchez spent some time with the Yankees earlier this season, but is currently at Triple-A, where he's playing well.
