WHO'S UP -- The New York Mets will trot out some big names before Game 3 of the World Series, with Billy Joel singing the national anthem and Mike Piazza throwing the ceremonial first pitch.
Rookie Noah Syndergaard then looks to start pulling the Amazin's out of an 0-2 hole. The 23-year-old Syndergaard opposes 24-year-old Kansas City Royals right-hander Yordano Ventura at 8:07 p.m. ET at Citi Field.
Syndergaard's fastball averages 97 mph -- the hardest among the Mets' hard-throwing young aces. And perhaps it will be best for him to just go after the Royals with his strength -- while, of course, mixing in his curveball and changeup.
