The New York Knicks made the first big splash of the offseason by trading for Derrick Rose, and they can still add another high-level free agent or two with the good deal of cap space they have. They're targeting all the big names on the open market, specifically Kevin Durant, but are casting a wide net as they try to fill out the rest of the roster. Here are all the latest Knicks news and rumors you need to know:
Knicks expected to sign Joakim Noah
New York have long been considered to be one of the favorites in the Joakim Noah sweepstakes, but now, it appears to be a foregone conclusion that he will end up in the Big Apple. Via Marc Berman of the New York Post:
The Knicks have emerged as prohibitive favorites for Joakim Noah and have set up a Friday afternoon meeting with the free-agent Bulls center, according to an NBA source.
With the Wizards having interest, the Washington Post reported Wednesday Noah is expected to choose New York, with a starting salary that could be $18 million. Rose said last week he had already started recruiting his former Bulls teammate, saying he wants to play with him. It was previously reported Noah would not make his decision based on the highest bidder.
Noah is also being pursued by the Timberwolves and Wizards. He averaged 4.3 points and 8.8 rebounds per game last season.
Knicks targeting Eric Gordon
New York is also looking to find a starting shooting guard on the open market, and that search has led them to Eric Gordon, according to Berman.
According to a source, the Knicks have interest in injury-prone Eric Gordon, too. Rose wouldn’t mind seeing Gordon get to New York. They played AAU ball together in Chicago and are friends.
Gordon averaged 15.2 points in just 45 games last season. He hasn't played in more than 64 games in a season since his rookie year (2008-09).
Jamal Crawford sets meeting with Knicks, four others
The Knicks are trying to bring Jamal Crawford back to the Big Apple, but four other teams - including the Clippers - are interested in signing him away, according to Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times.

Crawford has said his preference is to re-sign with the Clippers, but is "very, very open-minded about the whole free-agency process." He averaged 14.2 points and 2.3 assists per game last season.
