The New York Knicks are continuing to try and negotiate a trade that would send Carmelo Anthony to the Houston Rockets, but that's not the only trade they are trying to pull off.
In separate negotiations, the Knicks have had talks with the Phoenix Suns about acquiring Eric Bledsoe, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post.
A source told The Post the Knicks inquired about Phoenix point guard Eric Bledsoe, whom Jeff Hornacek coached with the Suns.
Bledsoe is 27 with two years and $29 million left on his pact. The Knicks don’t have many trade chips except a future first-round pick and starting shooting guard Courtney Lee.
Hornacek still holds Bledsoe in high regard, and the Suns have been toying with the idea of trading him for over a year. Phoenix isn't actively trying to unload Bledsoe, but know that he likely isn't part of their long-term plans as they build around their young core.
New York currently doesn't have much they can offer the Suns for Bledsoe, but may get some cap relief and/or young players in the Carmelo Anthony trade. As such, no deal with Phoenix would happen before then.
Bledsoe averaged 21.1 points, 6.3 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game last season.
