There's another name linked to the New York Knicks open president role and it's a surprising one. According to two different ESPN reports, Kentucky Wildcats head coach John Calipari has reached out to the Knicks to express interest in the role. Not unexpectedly, Calipari would also want to take over as the head coach.
"Kentucky head coach John Calipari reached out to Knicks through intermediaries to express interest in the Knicks presidency, per ESPN league sources," ESPN's Ian Begley reports. "The Knicks do not have interest in Calipari at the moment, per league sources. Presumably, Calipari would want to coach as well if he took over as president."
Heard the same... Cal has always been interested in return to NBA for the right job. https://t.co/rFVFqgkJNw

The key there is there's no indication that the Knicks are interested. With Jeff Hornacek currently the head coach, the Knicks don't really need a replacement there.
This is not the first time Calipari has been linked to an NBA job. He's been connected to a few in the past, but has not left his great gig with the Wildcats. Other names linked to the opening are David Griffin, Masai Ujiri, Sam Presti and darkhorse Isiah Thomas.
