Carmelo Anthony remains on the New York Knicks, but he might not be with the team for much longer. According to Ian Begley of ESPN, Anthony expects to be traded to the Houston Rockets very soon.
"I'm told that Carmelo feels pretty confident that a deal will get done at this point with Houston," Begley said on a SportsCenter appearance. "But the teams to date are nowhere near the finish line because it’s so tough for the Knicks and Rockets to get a deal together one-to-one. So it looks like there’s going to have to be a third team involved. Probably Ryan Anderson is going to have to be moved off to that third team for this deal to happen. Everyone involved wants it to happen."
Anthony's salary makes a trade difficult, especially with the Knicks not wanting to add Ryan Anderson in a trade. Anthony has agreed to waive his no-trade clause for two teams: the Rockets and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs can likely only nab Anthony if he's bought-out by the Knicks due to their salary cap situation.
New York and Houston have reportedly been talking to the Portland Trail Blazers about being that third team in an Anthony trade.

Portland is looking to offload some salary as they're set to have one of the league's highest payrolls this season, and they would be the ones to receive Ryan Anderson in the deal.
Houston would get to acquire Anthony, which they've been trying to do, while being able to hold onto core pieces in Eric Gordon, Trevor Ariza and Clint Capela. New York would receive Moe Harkless and Meyers Leonard from Portland.
Anthony averaged 22.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per game this past season.
