David Lee showed maturity in the way he handled himself after Draymond Green emerged as a starter for the Golden State Warriors. Filling a leadership role off the bench, Lee’s contributions against the Cavaliers helped his team win an NBA championship last month. From there, he was promised to be accommodated and sent to a better situation.
As the Knicks failed to strike the iron on some of their initial desired free agent targets, the team explored a trade for Lee as the front-court options dwindled down.
But even following the acquisitions of Robin Lopez, Derrick Williams, and Kyle O’Quinn, the door wasn’t completely closed on a potential return to the Big Apple for Lee.
