Percy Harvin's time with the New York Jets is officially over after just eight games spent with the franchise.
Here's Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network with the report:
The #Jets release Percy Harvin.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 10, 2015
Percy Harvin began the season with the Seattle Seahawks, but locker room controversy and questions made public about his character were ultimately a factor in him being traded to the Jets in the middle of the 2014 NFL season.
Harvin showed flashes at times in his eight games with New York, but only amassed 29 catches, 350 yards, and a single touchdown (along with 22 rushes for 110 yards) during his short stint with the Jets.
Likely taking his dropoff in production into account, the Jets have decided to part ways with Harvin and save what would have been a sizeable $10.5 million salary cap hit for the 2015 season (and over $30 million in cap hits for the three seasons after).
