There's yet another big NFL trade today. The Los Angeles Rams have traded LB Alec Ogletree to the New York Giants for two draft picks. Adam Schefter reports the Rams are giving up a 7th and Ogletree, while the Giants are giving up a 4th and 6th round pick in this year's draft.
The Giants have not valued linebackers highly in the past, but a new regime is in charge. The addition of Ogletree helps fill one of their biggest needs. Ogletree had 95 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 1 INT, 2 tackles for loss and 10 PBUs last year for the Rams.
It's a surprise, since the Rams had just extended Ogletree in October. Ogletree will have cap hits of $10 million for the next three years and $9 million in 2021, the last year of his deal.
It's another move for the Rams, who have been incredibly active on the trade market this year. It does open a hole at LB for them, however. Mark Barron is the other returning starter, but the rest of the depth chart features names like Bryce Hager, Cory Littleton and Cameron Lynch.
