New York Giants defensive end Owamagbe Odighizuwa, the team's third-round pick in the 2015 draft, announced on Twitter that he is retiring.
I have all love for everyone.. at the point and time I believe it's in my best interest to take sometime to get away from the game.

However this is the best platform to express something of the things that has been on my mind for a while

I truly apologize that it has to be made known like this

Odighizuwa has yet to disclose the reason for his decision, or if it's permanent or simply a temporary step away from the sport.
In his two career seasons, Odighizuwa has posted just six tackles and no sacks. He played in just four game his rookie season due to injury, but appeared in 14 games this past season.
With little depth behind starters Jason Pierre-Paul and Olivier Vernon, the Giants were expected to pick a defensive end early in the upcoming NFL Draft. Now, it seems likely they'll use their first-round pick (No. 23 overall) to address the position.
