The New York Giants posted a disappointing 6-10 record in a season where the NFC East was up for grabs. Tom Coughlin lost his job after the year, and offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo was promoted to replace Coughlin. The team still have several key pieces needed to make a run at the playoffs, but need to make a few moves this offseason. With $35 million in cap space, the Giants should have options. Here are 4 Things The NY Giants Must Do This Offseason:
4. Find A Compliment For Odell Beckham
Beckham is a wonderful talent, but the Giants need someone to pair him with. It's not going to be Rueben Randle (who is a free agent), and Victor Cruz is a potential cap cut. Spending a draft pick on another WR is a solid idea for New York.
3. Get A Workhorse Back
The Giants have a great pass catcher in Shane Vereen, but lack a workhorse back. The Andre Williams/Rashad Jennings combo wasn't that good this season. Spending an early draft pick or signing someone this offseason makes sense.
2. Resign JPP and Robert Ayers
Jason Pierre-Paul and Robert Ayers are free agents. They missed some time last season, but played very well when on the field. The Giants should bring them both back (and let Cullen Jenkins walk). If the Giants do that, they should feel comfortable about their starting DEs. Getting some depth might be needed.
1. Get A Good LB
Jon Beason is aging and constantly injured. Jasper Brinkley was the best LB this year, but he's a free agent. The Giants have ignored the linebacker spot for far too long. It's time for the team to actually invest in the position. Spending a first rounder on either Jaylon Smith or Myles Jack make sense.
