The New York Giants continue to sift through replacement options for former head coach Tom Coughlin, and there's a ton of rumors and rumblings surrounding the team advances through the interview process. Here's the latest news & notes from the team's coaching search.
Dolphins hire Adam Gase
The Miami Dolphins have taken one potential Giants coaching hire off the board, announcing Saturday that they hired Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase to a five-year deal. Gase is now the youngest head coach in the NFL at just 37 years old.
The Eagles, Browns and Giants all interviewed Gase, who emerged as the hottest coordinator-to-coach candidate this offseason. He helped improve the Bears' offense this season despite the team battling injuries throughout the year. He did wonders as the Broncos' offensive coordinator from 2013-14. Gase will be expected to get the most out of the Dolphins and QB Ryan Tannehill.
New York to meet with Mike Smith Monday
With Gase off the board, the Giants have added another name to their interview list -- scheduling a meeting with former Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith.
