Former New York Giants running back Tiki Barber joined Chat Sports for our Minds Behind The Game panel in New York on Thursday, giving us an exclusive inside look into his time as a member of Big Blue.
Speaking with Chat Sports CEO and event moderator James Yoder, Tiki reflected back on his ten years in New York in candid fashion. That included name checking the one guy who he views as the hardest hitter he's ever played against.
“I’d probably say Jeremiah Trotter, he was a linebacker for the Eagles, only because he knew me so well," Barber said. "In football, it’s a lot of game-planning and studying and tendencies. When you play a guy so many times, they end up just guessing. Sometimes they’ll miss and I’ll have these great runs, but other times he’d come full steam - I’m going in the seven hole, and he’s going right there, dead aim."
Barber wasn't shy about the effects Trotter's hits had on him.
“He hits me, and it kills me. I’m committed to the hole and he’s committed to the hole, and he’s bigger than me so he wins.”
Tiki also named Ray Lewis as a candidate for the most vicious hitter he ever encountered, but it's Trotter's hits which resonate with him to this day.
