New York Giants rookie wideout Odell Beckham, Jr., is the runaway favorite to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, and that made his admission during the Pro Bowl even more stunning.
Beckham revealed that the hamstring injury, which forced him to miss the entire preseason and the first four games of the regular season, was actually two tears in his right hamstring - and they never fully healed.
“They healed up enough to where I could play with them, but they were never truly good and I’m still just working on them and trying to get ready,” Beckham said.
Beckham explained that first hamstring tear occurred on the first day of training camp, and the second one happened just before the Giants’ third preseason game against the Jets.
“I should be good by training camp,” Beckham said. “The plan is to play at full strength next season, and I definitely hope to do it. I’m just looking forward to getting healthy.”
Beckham had to wait to make his NFL debut until Oct. 5 in a Week 5 victory over the Falcons, but still caught 91 passes for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns.
