New York Giants tight end Larry Donnell has been a revelation for the team during the 2014 NFL season, yet a huge fumble against the Cowboys two weeks ago has taken the place of any sort of self-congratulation for the young vertical threat.
Per Ebenezer Samuel of the NY Daily News, "in Larry Donnell’s mind, he cost the Giants that game two weeks ago, when he caught a third-and-8 pass for a first down, tried desperately to battle for a few extra yards, and was ultimately stripped, a turnover that essentially ended the Giants’ chances in what was a close game."
Donnell did nothing to refute that assessment on Friday.
“I’m still left with a bitter taste in my mouth from that,” he said. “I’m waiting for Monday, so I can get past it.”
Monday's game against the Indianapolis Colts will provide Donnell a chance to put that turnover aside. However, he's still focused on the logistics of what exactly went wrong against the Cowboys.
“I had my back turned to him (Cowboys safety Barry Church),” he said. “I’m trying to get the extra yards. It was two guys. One (Church) wrapped me up and one (linebacker Justin Durant) got the ball."
"It was tough, but I’ve gotta find a way to hang on to it.”
