In NY Giants news today, the New York Giants have signed on as the 16th team to allow cameras in their draft rooms -- bucking their trend of secrecy from years past.
According to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, "the Giants haven’t previously allowed cameras in their draft rooms and have generally preferred to keep things close to the vest. Giants head coach Tom Coughlin, in particular, has a reputation as the type who would prefer to conduct his business without cameras present."
As Smith posits, it is possible that the NY Giants are making this concession in order to keep from having to participate in Hard Knocks this season. The Giants are one of the teams listed as being required to say yes to the filming of the show if no NFL team decides to volunteer.
There is speculation that the NFL may require all 32 teams to allow cameras in their draft rooms down the road -- however, with 16 teams volunteering and probably come, that may not be necessary as time goes on.
