During a candid session with reporters on radio row at the Super Bowl XLIX festivities in Glendale on Thursday, former New York Giants and current Oakland Raiders defensive end Justin Tuck was asked if his former coach, NY Giants head man Tom Coughlin, would have the disposition necessary to coach a free spirit like Marshawn Lynch and the rest of his NFC champion Seattle Seahawks teammates.
"No. I don't think so," Tuck said following a pause, via Dan Graziano of ESPN.com. "I think Coach Coughlin is a little bit more to the line. Him and Marshawn wouldn't get along very well, because [Coughlin's] not about individuality in that case, when it brings attention to a certain player and not to the team.

"Now, I agree with you. I think Pete [Carroll is perfect for Seattle and the athletes and the guys they have on that football team, and it's worked well for them, obviously. Those personalities feed that team. I don't think it would have worked well for us and how the New York Giants were built, from top to bottom, from Mr. Mara down. I don't think that would have worked well."
Tuck was by no means bashing Coughlin. Rather, he was answering partly to a lead-in that talked about Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll embracing his players' individual natures - a methodology that runs counter to the old-school ways of a coach like Coughlin.
